Abstract: As modern and intelligent technology continues to develop, the application of smart materials has greatly improved related instruments. Type 1- 3 piezoelectric composite, a core element in piezoelectric sensors, can optimize the performance of pure piezoelectric ceramic materials. As a functional material of high mechanical and electrical characteristics and stability, the composite has been widely used in underwater acoustic detection, non - destructive detection, medical ultrasound, and many other technical fields. In recent years, it has the higher technical standards for transducers with frequency broadband and temperature / pressure resistance, bringing forth the derivative designs of a series of 1-3 piezoelectric composites. This paper reviews the research progress of 1 - 3 piezoelectric composites at home and abroad, including the
materials structure and characteristics, four common preparation methods, and two derivative designs in terms of its structure and component. Finally, the problems and future development of the composites are summarized.
