Low temperature co-fired Mg2Al4Si5O18/MgO-B2O3-SiO2 glass-ceramics

Abstract: Mg2Al4Si5O18/MgO-B2O3-SiO2 (MBS) glass-ceramics were fabricated by the traditional solid-phase method. The effects of MgO - B2O3-SiO2 (MBS) glass on the sintering characteristics, phase composition, microstructure, dielectric properties and thermal properties of Mg2Al4Si5O18 ceramics were investigated. The result shows that the sintering temperature of Mg2Al4Si5O18 ceramic can be reduced from 1430℃ to 950℃ by adding 40%-50% MBS glass. When the Mg2Al4Si5O18 ceramic was sintered at 950℃ for half an hour with 47. 5% MBS glass, the excellent ceramic substrate materials for LTCC technology can be obtained: εr=5.1, tanδ=0.0023 and the coefficient of thermal expansion is 6.6×10-6/℃.
