Solid State Preparation and Fluorescence Properties of Ce, Cr: YAG Transparent Ceramics

Abstract: Ce,Cr:YAG transparent ceramics were synthesized by solid state reaction method with high pure Al2O3, Y2O3,Cr2O3 and CeO2 as raw materials. The crystalline structure and optical properties of 0.5% Ce3+and 0.1% Cr3+ co-doped YAG ceramics were mainly studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence spectroscopy, respectively. XRD results show that the single YAG crystal phase is obtained when the precursor is sintered at 1 750 ℃. The linear transmission of the ceramic in visible range reaches about 70%. Under the excitation of 430 nm, the ceramic shows the characteristic emission peaks of Ce3+ and Cr3+, which might present it could be used in white-LED fields.
